Can or should affection exist between two people if the relationship of the two people cannot exist around others? Literary history has seen many secret lovers, always with a tragic ending: the stereotype being Romeo and Juliet. The contradictory affection does not need to just be between lovers - the idea seems to exist in many work places where employees found the employment for the needs of money or some other societal end, and not for the company’s purpose. It seems to be a hard idea to ethically pin point an opinion, or even understand. The ideas of the contradiction are something I struggle and live through often. In a light hearted, yet expressive way I believe these photographs express this contradiction. I see true beauty in each, yet there is something wrong, out of place, or societally dirty in each. The obscure and ordinary come together to create a truer beauty than is traditional. I drive to school through the Mississippi Delta and have always found it truly romantic and pastoral. This view bothers me, because the simplicity from the poverty, the history of the class structure and, the breakdown of the agricultural system is what I find visually intriguing.
